Essential oil dilution – essential oil uses and benefits

Positive effect of essential oils on the human body has been known for a long time. Essential oils were produced even in Ancient Egypt, although, if in those times the knowledge about esters were accessible only for chosen persons then nowadays everybody can produce them. It is not difficult to do. You need only a plant which you want to extract an ester from and a still. However, it is also very important to know the rules of correct application of essential oils!       

Peculiarities of esters

It is referred to direct application of essential oils but not the influence of ester on the human body. Essential oil is a concentrate extracted from a plant and in some cases it is not recommended to apply it singly. There are different recommendations depending on purposes of its application.     

Massage

If you want to use ester for cosmetic purposes, when it is in the direct contact with skin, then it is recommended to dilute ester with other base oils:

• extract of linen seeds;
• extract of peach or grape seeds;
• coconut oil;

• olive oil or any other oil with low odor.

Ratio is 7-10 drops per 30 ml of base oil. Such a mixture will have enough quantity of beneficial components to have beneficial effect on the skin without damaging it.

Cosmetic products

Essential oils are popular supplement for creams, lotions and shampoos but it is necessary to be careful because the excess of ester can cause negative response on the skin and the human body in whole. It is recommended to add 1-2 drops per single dose of cosmetic product.     

Note that cosmetics should be ether homemade or not contain silicone and mineral oils. The last named form a film on the surface of the skin and prevent from essential oil effect.  

Medical purposes

It is often prescribed compresses for improvement of health, especially for diseases of joints, recent traumas, headaches, and etc. In this case it is necessary to add no more than 5 drops of oil into the water of necessary temperature and shake the mixture properly. Then you may wet cloth and put a compress on a sore spot. If it is oil compress then 5-6 drops of ester are mixed with 10 g of base oil.   

Aroma lamp and sprayer

It is not necessary to dilute essential oil for an aroma lamp because it is enough to calculate the quantity of ester per a room: 3-5 drops per 15 m². Note that first treatments must not surpass 20 minutes.

Mix 3-5 drops of essential oil with 1 tablespoon of alcohol dissolved in 1 L of water to purify the air of the room. You may fill the sprayer with this mixture and use as intended.

Essential oil is indispensible thing which can be used for various purposes. However, it is necessary to be careful if you don’t want to harm your health. The best option is to use homemade ester. In this case you will be absolutely sure of its quality and beneficial properties. Nevertheless, it is necessary to dilute even homemade essential oil. Dilution will not influence on its quality, and proper application will give a maximum positive result.
